  • Description

If sociology has never openly claimed predictive capabilities, it most often advocates the utility of its production. This depends on what sociology makes of technical rationality to produce explanatory results of collective action, an action whose genesis remains mysterious. Indeed, is this rationality, for example, compatible with the engagement of subjects whose existence it does not know in part? Is it compatible with the capacity to act of subjects engaged in communicative action (Habermas), the latter considered as a dynamic production of a shared meaning, distinct from any causal explanation of social action and its possible values of morality?

This book addresses the problems of responsibility from the lived worlds of individuals, committed ethically but also taken in collective action. However, it is often the latter, understood as technical rationality that occupies the expertise borrowed from sociologists or economists.
